TRIP SWITCH SAFETY ENHANCEMENT OPTION
COMPUTERIZED CROWNER RETROFIT SYSTEM
If necessary, RGB
Engineering can supply additional hardware and software that provide safety
protection and redundant features to minimize the chances for a trip switch
“failure”. This would normally only be required if the primary carriage or
table trip switches and reversing control are operating through the FFG
computer. Otherwise, a computer failure would not be considered a
catastrophic event in terms of equipment or personal safety.
The items included with this option are:
a) A “watchdog timer” type of device that will monitor the computer and initiate
a carriage/table stop should the FFG computer stop working for any reason.
This will also stop the carriage/table whenever the RUN screen is exited.
b) Monitor relays and FFG software alterations to verify that the critical
external relays (i.e.: end of roll trips) agree with the computer sense.
In other words, a “handshake” routine to insure that the state of the external
relays is the same as that shown on the computer screen.
c) Additional engineering to tie the FFG trips into the existing carriage/table
drive circuitry.
d) A “UPS” (battery backup power supply) for the computer and encoder hardware.
e) Additional engineering to incorporate an existing redundant backup tripping
device if possible.
f) Additional software logic to monitor the absolute encoder operation.
