SATELLITE WORK STATION OPTION
COMPUTERIZED CROWNER RETROFIT SYSTEM
Except
for fully automatic grinders and traveling table grinders, where the FFG cabinet
is mounted on the front side of the machine next to the other floor mounted
cabinets and operator controls, it is often convenient and necessary to have a
redundant work station on the carriage, so that the operator can monitor the
screen displays and
make keyboard entries from either the FFG floor location, or
from the moving carriage. This is done using a
Cybex "Companion"
interfacing device to connect an auxiliary keyboard and monitor. This
consi
sts of a transmitter at the FFG computer and a receiver at the remote locationn
on the carriage, linked by an extension cable. An input cable connects the transmitter
to the computer, and a 9 VAC transformer powers the receiver. The sc
hematic
is shown on the left along with a picture of the transmitter and receiver front
and rear views. The photo on the right shows a typical satellite work
station on a traveling carriage roll grinder.
